Woodland Court

This historical home was completely renovated. The kitchen was relocated from the east side of the house to the west side with a view of the backyard where plenty of natural light flows in. The sunroom was the only expansion to the home but the original footprint of the house stood the same and the exterior of the structure remained completely original.

The owners wanted a soft, and soothing palette. The initial remodel (17 years ago) was done in bright primary colors which made the home very bright and cheerful. This time, the goal of the new palette was quiet and restful. The color scheme was built around the gorgeous ballerina painting over the navy sofa in the living room, and a coral color the client loves so much for the dining room draperies.

The owner loves antiques so the home was accented with some of her favorite pieces, like the 17th century Italian painted cabinet in the foyer, and the beautiful walnut display cabinet in the dining room. Many of the furnished pieces were designed and created specifically for this home and all of the rugs were custom created & handwoven to our design specifications by Stark.

Farmhouse

Nested on a large tract of mountainous land outside of Knoxville, this home echo’s a farmhouse from a hundred years ago. The family property is used to raise and train German Shepherds, grow hops, as well as, operate a small sawmill.

Adding to the charm of the place, the lakefront views also inspired our color scheme.
Our first find was the linen print fabric for the great room draperies. Our color palette for the entire home was pulled from this beautiful print. The pristine aqua blue water is represented well in the leather chairs in the great room.

In the kitchen, the owners love of chickens can be found in custom artwork over the fireplace, and in the linen print on the windows. Interior custom Tiger Maple doors flow throughout the home.

Soft pink hues appear in the master suite and are found in a linen print fabric, called “Fox Hollow,” reminiscent of foxes on the property. A mixture of new and antique pieces in the guest rooms blend and soften the overall look. In the blue guest room, the blue and white print drapery is full of hidden animals, all found on the property, and the deep navy rug provides a wonderful anchor for the space.

Sutherland Ave

This home sits on a small lot in the Bearden area of Knoxville. It is the owners “city” house. They have a large farm outside Knoxville, and wanted an easy place to maintain for their frequent visits to the city. I drew the floor plan for the house as well as provided the interior design. It is called “Key Cottage” for the antique key-shaped door knocker gifted to them by the builder upon completion.

Some of the furnishings were pieces that remained from a previous home. They were re-upholstered and given new life in this space. The owner asked for a clean, sophisticated, transitional look. Timeless, but with a subtle modern twist.

In the living room, an antique French limestone fireplace provides an authentic touch to give a new house some age. The rug provides a geometric foil to the soft linen print drapery. The beautiful teal blue color provides a great accent, that is carried across the foyer into the bedroom.

The kitchen is small but efficient. White cabinets make the space look bigger, and the oversized window brings the outdoors in.

In the dining room, a custom mural wall covering from DeGournay provides drama and opens up the space.

The leopard carpets run from the foyer through the dining room, and provide a sense of continuity and whimsy, while camouflaging lots of traffic from grandchildren and pets.

The master bedroom is a soothing oasis in blue and white. The black bedside chests anchor the room, and provide a modern touch.

Woodland

This project shows how beautifully a couple can downsize from a large home. Their previous home was in excess of 10,000 square feet. They were weary of the maintenance, and decided they wanted a small cottage. We kept the very best pieces, and refreshed everything with totally new colors, rugs, and fabrics.

The client loves the softly worn look of romantic elegance. Soft linens were in order, as were antique Oushak carpets. She loves the faded colors and beautiful textures. In the living room, a dramatic sofa was upholstered in a soft blue velvet fabric. A lifetime collection of antique pieces make the space have a fabulous sense of history while maintaining a livable space.

In the family room, the durable linen velvet stands up to dogs and children beautifully. The antique Oushak carpet hides a multitude of spills that will happen so close to the kitchen. Beautiful lighting fixtures bring the scale into perspective.

In the master bedroom, the soft blue color palette continues. A custom bed was made in Italy, and a romantic coverlette tops it off.

The master bathroom feels light and bright. New vanities and a custom mirror treatment, as well as a new marble floor expand and freshen the space. Lighting was perfected with the addition of sconces.

Cashiers
Cabbott Ridge

We were asked to create an entirely new atmosphere for this project. The client brought only a few accessory pieces from their previous residence, and wanted to create a new lifestyle, surrounded by classic furnishings, beautiful fabrics, and quality antiques.

Finding creative ways to maximize the look and stay within the budget was a constant balance on this project.  We had a set amount of dollars to spend, and we wanted to create the most beautiful spaces we could within that budget.  We did not skimp on items, but instead made bold strokes with important pieces, and tamed down others.

Jackson Ave

The client asked for a modern aesthetic, but also wanted to incorporate a few family heirloom pieces. The juxtaposition of a modern style in a converted warehouse space created the perfect backdrop for comfort.

Mixing the new with the old softens the edges of an angular and streamlined space. Comfortable seating and luxurious fabrics, along with perfect proportions, minimal accessories and unique multi-purpose room arrangements are the keys to make this space open, fresh and inviting.

Jackson Avenue features accessory items and artwork from many different sources, including UPSTAIRS. UPSTAIRS is a retail location that brings a touch of Todd Richesin style to the retail marketplace.

Casa Real

As the personal home of Bobby Brown and Todd Richesin, Casa Real was created as a backdrop for a growing collection of 18th and 19th century European and American antiques. The concept of a French house to hold them has been executed down to the smallest detail, both inside and throughout the gardens.

A lifetime of collecting and a love for entertaining formed the basis of the interiors at Casa Real. Layers of detail add a timeless sophistication and comfort.

Using the antiques Bobby and Todd love, and adding in the key elements of plush upholstery and happy colors keep the space fresh and comfortable. Casa Real is at once a testing ground for new ideas and a comfortable retreat for the owners.

The concept of Bobby Todd and the formation of the collection at Casa Real are inseparable. Bobby Todd was created after so many of Bobby’s and Todd’s friends saw their home and said ‘You should do a store that reflects your way of life.’ Casa Real remains to this day the perfect reflection of the true vision of Bobby Todd.

Old Highland Park

The client asked for a comfortable retreat using bright colors in a fresh way while mixing antiques to create a cozy setting. A collection of old quilts inspired the color palette. The antiques were instantly gathered to create the look of a lifetime of collecting.

The goal was to create a look that was distinctly “mountain”, but to add a degree of sophistication and warmth. Layers of pattern, layers of lighting, and beautiful handmade rugs combine to create a welcoming environment that looks as if it has grown with the family.

As a second home, this house was designed to be an escape. The idyllic mountain location was the perfect backdrop for rustic antiques and a cheerful color palette.

Many of the beautiful antique pieces in this home were sourced from Bobby Todd. Bobby Todd Antiques is focused on bringing clients unique and interesting items. You can always find the unusual at Bobby Todd.

William Street

This project was a restoration and expansion of a 19th century “Eyebrow” house on William Street in the heart of historic Key West, Florida.

The design was inspired by the client’s love for antiques, as well as what was suitable for the house’s age and location. We selected pieces that could have been in the house when it was built, and updated them by adding in comfortable upholstery and beautifully patterned fabrics in bright, tropical colors.

Bold color and lots of pattern combine with beautiful antiques and functional spaces to create a Tropical getaway.
