Mountaintop Modern
“When people have a second home or a vacation home, usually they want it to be different from what they experience in their everyday life. We help create places that our clients look forward to being in.”
Located near a creek in the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau, this vacation home belongs to a couple who desired a totally different environment than their more traditional permanent residence. Todd created a mid-century, yet contemporary vibe that is airy, light, and cool; a peaceful place for a summer getaway. A painting of dahlias and the wonderful living room drapery together inspired a flowing, watercolor-like color palette for the entire house. Abstract art by a local artist paired with sculptural light fixtures and textured or gleaming furniture by Alfonso Marina contribute to the intimate cocktail-lounge sensibility; spaces where the owners like to entertain in small groups. All the textiles, including Todd’s custom-designed rugs, are elemental to the visual appeal of the retreat, yet belie the durability and cleanability that accommodates the owners’ German Shepherds.
